School & Group Tours

Guided Tours: Penn Dixie’s guided tours are led by our trained staff and volunteers who provide age-appropriate presentations on the history of planet Earth. Your students will experience earth science in a unique, hands-on, and outdoors setting. They will learn about deep time, extinct life, erosion/deposition, minerals and , of course, fossil collecting. All geological specimens found during field trips may be kept by students. From April to November, we welcome:

  • School groups (Pre K-12 through college)
  • Day care groups
  • Scout and youth organizations
  • Special needs groups

Guided tours typically range from 1-1/2 to 2 hours, but can be adapted to different lengths to meet your school’s needs. For additional information or to book one of our programs, call (716) 627-4560 and ask for Director of Education Dr. Holly Schreiber, or use our group reservation request form.

Our group rate is $5 per person. One teacher/chaperone is included with every 10 registrants; additional teachers/chaperones are $9 each. This rate is based on groups of 10 or more when booked at least two weeks in advance. Note: Our group rate will increase to $6 per person beginning May 1, 2018. Please book your trip in advance of May 1 to reserve the lower rate.

We also offer a personal tour of the site for teachers who are not familiar with our facilities. There is no charge for this tour. Please contact us to make arrangements.
