Join Dr. Holly Schreiber, Director of Education, on-site this Spring as she tours you and your young learner throughout our 3 acres of fossiliferous quarry. You’ll learn about Western New York’s geologic history, recent industrial past, and how to find and identify different Devonian-aged fossils. Guided tour topics align with New York State Science Standards and are a great supplemental resource for any school-aged learner.
Stay for an additional hour after your tour time to hunt for more fossils and explore Penn Dixie’s additional 51 acres. All participants are welcome to keep whatever they find!
Adults must remain with their child(ren) at all times. Masks are required during portions of the field trip. One adult is included with each child admission. Tool rentals are available for an additional fee of $5 and include a rock hammer, 3 lb. crack hammer, chisel, safety glasses, kneeling pad, and bucket to carry tools and collected specimens in.
