Engineering & Dig

Engineering n Dig_web

A new Penn Dixie program in partnership with Engineering for Kids!

In a guided workshop, children will learn about circuitry and the inner workings of a flashlight. They will then make a flashlight using their knowledge of a complete circuit with batteries, wire, brads, plastic bottles, cotton balls, and other household materials.

Children will leave with their own flashlight to search for critters at night. This program is designed for ages 8-13, but younger and older children are welcome to join. Fossil collecting expeditions and nature tours will also take place during the program and our experts will be on site to identify geological treasures.

For those who wish to stay for the evening, our Mars, Saturn, and Scorpius program will begin at 6 pm with sunspot viewing. After sundown, we’ll be searching the night skies for the visible planets as well as the M13, M57, and M27 nebulae.

In recognition of National Grandparents Day, all grandparents are admitted free for this program. No other discounts or passes will be accepted.

Non-member children $10; Non-member, non-grandparent adults $9. Member children $5; Member adults FREE. Astronomy-only admission is $4.
